いよいよ和裁に挑戦! Super sewing project!

I found out one of my friends used to work for Sagami in Tokyo actually making the kimonos. I mentioned I wanted to learn to sew kimono and she was like, if you want to make a yukata I can help you just buy a roll of yukata and some thread. And of course I actually did impulse buy a roll of yukata recentlycuz it was cheap and I liked the 絽っぽい weave. This is how kimono is normally sold in a ~12 meter roll of standard width. So the shape of kimono and how it's woven and sewn is all wonderfully logically thought out to prevent waste.
I'll be calling her up and actually starting to biggest sewing project of my life this or next week!
